Hi from Uphall Primary School in Uphall, West Lothian, Scotland. We are a primary seven class with 33 pupils. Uphall, which is over 700 years old, is 16 miles west of Edinburgh, Scotland's capital. In Broxburn, about a mile from Uphall, James "Paraffin" Young began the modern oil industry, 150 years ago. We are 55 56' north latitude and 3 31' west longitude.
We are currently studying the Victorian way of life, in particular the differences between life then and now. Our class will be going on a trip to Robert Owen's New Lanark Mills, which played a significant part during the Industrial Revolution.
Our weather changes frequently because Scotland is part of Great Britain, an island surrounded by seas. Today is a mild November day. Scottish summers are quite warm and dry while winters are cool, wet and windy with some snow.
Our favourite subjects is information technology. Some of the things our class enjoys doing in spare time are- football (soccer), roller blading, fishing, ice skating, watching TV, swimming and golfing.
We hope to hear from everyone else soon.
Bye
