We are a group of 50 4th graders from Paradise Valley, AZ. Our latitude is 33° N and our longitude is 112° W. Our climate is warm or hot and dry. In the winter, it is beautiful. The average temperature is around 70° F. and it is almost always sunny. It does not snow in Phoenix, the closest city to us. In the summer, it gets really HOT. Average temperatures are around 110° F. but it can get up to 120° F.! We do have a rainy season. It is in July and August. We call it our monsoon season.
We are studying latitude, biomes and adaptations in science. Our plants and animals here have some very interesting ways to escape the harsh conditions here.
Fourth graders are interested in playing with their yo-yos, playing computer games, watching TV, swimming in their pools (most everyone here has a pool or has access to one), horseback riding, shopping, hiking, playing soccer, and roller blading.
