St. Lucie Elementary School

Hello from St. Lucie Elementary School in Fort Pierce, Florida. We are located at 27 degrees 26.8 minutes north latitude and 80 degrees 19.6 minutes west longitude. Our present school building is only 2 years old but the original building was built around 1959. Fort Pierce is on the Atlantic Ocean, south of Cape Kennedy. Our school mascot is the lynx and our school colors are red, yellow, blue, and green. We have about 550 students in our school.

We are in the 5th grade. Our teacher is Ms. Haynes. We have 32 students in our class. There are 20 boys and 12 girls. . We have science, math, health, reading, spelling, language arts, and social studies. Out school also has 2 computer labs with 32 computers in each lab. One of our labs is completely connected to the Internet. We also have 4 computers in our classroom with one that is connected to the Internet. We have a Science Lab and an Art Lab in our school. In the Art Lab we paint pictures, make masks, and draw.

We have gone on 2 field trips so far this year. One was to Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute where we saw a submersible submarine and some research vessels. We are going to Kennedy Space Center on Wednesday.

Fort Pierce is a big part of the citrus area, We have orange groves inside the city. Soon we will be able to see the Christmas Boat Parade. The boats are decorated with lights and there is food and pretty sights.

We are the first class in our school to be doing an Internet project and we are really excited. Like our school motto says:
St. Lucie means learning,
St. Lucie means fun,
we're proud of our effort,
we've only just begun,
one thing to remember,
and this is for sure,
great things will happen,
when you hear the lynx roar..........ROAR1111
