We are 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students from Boulder Country Day School in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, 40 degress north latitude and 105.30 degrees west longitude. Boulder is located at the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains and 30 miles northwest of Denver. The University of Colorado (with a real buffalo for a mascot) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research are found in our city. What a great place to live.
Our weather is always changing, although we have more than 300 days of sun every year. Two weeks ago we had 27" snow - they say it might be a result of the El Nino and that we should expect lots of cold and snow. Temperature today is in mid 50's with some wind--we can get gusts of more than 90mph.
BCD has a population of 150 K-5 students with no more than 15 students in each classroom. The 3rd graders just finished studying animals and their habitats. Fourth graders are studying Latin, French, echinoderms in Science, the poet Pierre Bonnnard in English class, and multiplication in math. We love physical education. Fifth graders also study French and Latin. They enjoy movies (Men in Black) and pop music. Their favorite subject is Art.
That's all from Boulder! We can't wait to get started and we're enjoying the letters from all the participants.
