Indian Mills School, Shamong, New Jersey
We are fourth grade students from Shamong, New Jersey. This is the second time our school has taken part in the project. When we were in second grade, we were able to observe our then fourth graders working on this project. We couldn’t wait to do it ourselves!
Hypothesis – We thought we would find all of the macroinvertebrates that had been found in the past. We would be using the same pond. We couldn’t decide if we would find greater quantities or lesser quantities.
Findings – We collected our sample on May 2, 2008. It was 68 degrees and overcast.
We had lots of water in our bucket sample to analyze. The water was a little murky but settled after a while.

Conclusion – We found lots of the same creatures as classes in the past. Once again the Water Penny seems abundant. We weren’t able to use all the water we collected because our time in class ran out. We wish we knew for sure about the Rotifer, it was hard to tell.
We were surprised by the number of leeches.
